In 2006, Statistics Canada reported that in every year since 1996, Alberta's population has grown faster than any other Canadian province. The driving force behind the population surge is the fact that the province is Canada's largest producer of conventional crude oil, synthetic crude, natural gas and gas products.
This rapid growth - said to be the strongest experienced by any Canadian province ever - has led to extensive and continual infrastructure advancements, including the construction of new highways, subdivisions, parking lots and specific to the oil industry - oil leases and oil lease roads.
As a result, Alberta contracting companies, like DBC Contractors, have been quite busy and if the trend continues, will continue to be for many years to come.
DBC Contractors, based in Airdrie, Alberta, was started in the mid 1950s - focusing on mostly oil field work and construction. The company grew over the years, keeping pace with the robust Alberta economy. Now they specialize in excavation, highway & street construction, oil industry & oil field equipment services and road construction & repairs, and work closely with municipal and provincial governments in the planning and construction of roadways.
As the business grew so too did their equipment fleet. Presently DBC Contractors' nearly 200 employees operate and maintain well over 100 pieces of heavy equipment, including crawler tractors, scrapers, road graders, packers, backhoes and more. They also have over 40 haul and transport trucks.
